Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMCH) Ludhiana, Punjab, India is a 1625 bedded NABH accredited, non-aided, not-for-profit charitable Institution. It is a tertiary care teaching hospital having an OPD of 2800 patients per from various states such as Punjab, Haryana, J& K, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan etc. The institution has an imposing complex of modern buildings and is equipped with all kinds of modern facilities for providing excellent care to the patients and training to the undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The Department of Biochemistry is involved in teaching of Undergraduate medical students, Post-graduate MD training and teaching nursing students. The state of art clinical biochemistry lab provides round the clock 24x7 services to the patients attending OPD, IPD and ER in DMC and Hero Heart centre .The lab receives around 2000 samples/ten thousand tests in a day with turnaround time of 2hours. Around 200 parameters including routine chemistries, Hormones, vitamins, tumor markers, Antenatal screening ,TDM and Drugs of abuse are being done in the lab.
We are also involved in research on various clinical aspects like tuberculosis, diabetes, atherosclerosis and issues relating to maternal and child health care. The molecular biology lab is equipped with the PCR, Real time PCR, gel documentation system, ELISA etc and is under the process of further development. The department team includes able and qualified faculty, assisted by residents and other supporting staffs. We actively participate in conferences and publish number of papers in National & International journals. Our endeavour at all times is to impart quality medical education and patient care.
Ludhiana is well connected by road and rail. Major national highways - NH 44, NH 5 (old NH1, NH95) and state highway SH 11 connect the city to other parts of the country. Ludhiana Railway Station is an important junction on Delhi-Amritsar railway track and is connected via trains to other major cities in India. Ludhiana can be approached via air route using International Airport, Chandigarh (IXC), Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, Amritsar (ATQ) and Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi (IGI).
